TriumFit Tues News #26πŸ†

Count down to 2025-05-19T11:00:00.000Z

Dear TriumFit Fam,

Referral Reward: Refer "TriumFit TuesNews" to just 3 friends & get one of my training plans for free ($20-$35 value). Just reply to this email with subject line: "Newsletter referrals" and list the emails of your 3 amigos, and I will add them manually! (Ideally you tell them how awesome it is first, of course...)

Now you have a proper training plan and the body you want with your swagger back.

My company is built around challenges.

Physical challenges.

But also mental challenges.

Because you cannot easily separate the mind from the body.

In this newsletter I promised you behind the scenes access to the "Chief Challenge Officer" (me)

Noah Kagan's book "Million Dollar Weekend" (MDW) has been a revelation for me.

It stirred a deep entrepreneurial drive I haven't felt before.

What better way to document my OWN journey, than by doing his 34-step business challenge checklist. (see how meta this is?)

This will be my accountability to you, dear reader, to show you how the plane is built... in mid air.

Finger's crossed this isn't a Boeing 737, and the doors actually stay on the whole time.

But if they don't, I'm going down with the ship, as your loyal captain.

____________________________________________________________

This week's MDW challenge was to make my CURRENT customers happier!

I like that idea :)

The framing question was: "What is one thing I can do today that will make you twice as happy with us?"

So I asked a couple of the early TriumFit participants and here is what they said!

  1. The first suggestion was to let my "personality flag" fly higher. I appreciate that. The tone of my TriumFit brand is meant to be easy going, laid back, and goofy as hell. That's in accordance with ~95% of my personality, the other 5% is a savage demon when I am in competition or challenge mode, lol. However, getting more comfortable broadcasting that 95% is a great suggestion, not just the 5% on my socials.
  2. 2nd feedback was about more frequent updates on participants progress. A look back at their past performance on challenges and such is a great idea! I have a Google spreadsheet that participants can record their TFC stats on, in terms of challenge completion times. But being more active and letting them know where they stand on the leaderboard, or via improved fitness levels would be great!
  3. 3rd feedback was about the benefit of the in-person community building events. I actually just started doing training camps for the upcoming challenges at the local park, so I am taking this advice to heart! I also was talking this past weekend at the Rainiers game with someone, and the idea of a community volunteer event came up. Essentially another way to promote my slogan: "Give back, never give up." If we had a rotating TriumFit community volunteer event, like park cleanups, handing out water at Ruston, etc. that is a good way to build awareness. Do you have any causes you current support, reader?
  4. 4th suggestion was to physically print out the "Certificates of Triumph" that I make (and send via email) for everyone who completes a challenge (see below). Because it is nice to have a physical momento at the end of a challenge that shows you DID THE THING! I did add the golden wreaths to "hardest working" male/female, but everyone should get something, in classic Millennial spirit...

Further questions in this weeks challenge:

1) What is your one goal for this year?

100 challenge sign ups

2) Who exactly is your customer and where can you find them?

Ideal customer is either A) someone completely unmotivated to go to the gym, but prefers to workout with a community and especially outdoors. Or B) someone (like me) who was experiencing fitness burnout and looking for ways to combine their fitness with a larger purpose, so as to not feel like it was "time wasted" or selfishly clocking hours in the gym.

These people are usually at gyms, health food stores, and outdoors in nature already!

3) What is one marketing activity you can double down on?

I can hand out more flyers at the Tacoma Run Clubs. That might help spread the word if I can talk to people in person, and get them out to my free Sunday training camps.

4) How can you delight your first 100 customers?

James made a good suggestion of printing out "Certificates of Triumph" in advance and then bringing them to the events. It is nice to have a physical object of your effort immediately upon finishing a hard challenge! To that end, I bought a bunch of empty frames!

5) If you HAD to double your business with no money in thirty days, what would you do?

I would pick up the phone and actually call people! That is usually the best way to make sales, if not in person. So doubling down on that would help. But that is the kryptonite of millennials. YESSH. I really need to get over rejection if I want this to succeed. Or just feeling like a "bother," because all I am trying to do is get people healthier at the end of the day, there is nothing wrong or slimy about that!

β€œTriumFit Transparency” where we talk progress and problems:

Tyler’s progress towards his 2025 TriumFit growth goals:

A) 14 of 100 challenge sign ups (up 1 since last week)

B) 78 of 1,000 newsletter subscribers (no change)

Tyler's problems to overcome:

A)

  • I added a "tick box" to check before the credit card portion on the charity challenge sales cart now, so that is done!
  • I looked into Adobe, couldn't find a way to integrate it with ThriveCart, but I can look again.
  • I don't think I need waivers for every event tbh. I don't re-sign a waiver for every run club I attend, so as long as I write explicitly: "this waiver applies for this and all future TFC events" I am good right? Any lawyers out in the crowd?
  • Run Club integration. I am going to talk with Ejay who leads RunClub next Sunday, to legitimately see if we can collab on something and the process for that!
  • The dropdown menu for challenge sign ups is DONE!
  • I had my first bootcamp on Sunday the 13th! It was a beauty of a day, Asaph from Tacoma Connect and Allie came out!
  • I will simplify the verbiage on the flyers right now and drop it below. You decide if it is any better...

"Warriors of the Week" TriumFit's highlight of the TFC community:

Follow me on Strava if you want to get your week of "Sweat-Efforts" praised in a future TuesNewsletter! Click here ---> Ty from TriumFit

In this episode we have...

1) Kerin, who honestly, I follow exclusively for the pictures. I am super jelly of that waterfall. Next level.

2) Seumas, I had to include this because the title says it all. The man chewed on the same gum for 43 minutes AND saw a muffin during his workout. You just don't see that combo these days!

3) Howard, he got in one of his legendary crossfit workouts in, I do love me a good box jump!

4) Aaron, he is one of the F3 dudes I met out here in Tacoma. They did a hero workout this week it looks like, I remember doing "BERT" as my FIRST F3 workout in January!

5) Andrea, she had a really cool castle in the background, had to include for that alone.

6) Cam, he hit a strong pace for 6+ miles, and with that view of Rainier pulling him along, I can see why!

That is what I could dig up this week in my Strava world. Make sure to give some shoutout to the people pushing their limits, the only easy day was yesterday!

"The People's Poll" TriumFit's random queries to the community:

This segment was inspired by a previous project of mine: "Tyler Talks to Strangers," where I would interview random people on the street. Fun times. But my curiosity is endless, so now I get to query YOU!

This weeks poll was a classic conundrum...

"To be...or not to be...CREED OR NICKLEBACK?"

DAMN. Creed was the clear winner here. That is wild. Honestly, I am just glad that both Nickleback and Creed both survived the memeification-hell disrespecting their names. I grew up listening to both, so I am happy that they are resurfacing for the younger generations ears. You cannot tell me "One Last Breath" is not a "bop" as the kids would say. And Nickleback did the soundtrack to a Toby McGuire Spiderman movie, that's real life.

"Tyler's TriumFit Tuesday Tip" where I share some wisdom:

# 21 Tell people what you are going to do, and then do it! Simple as that.

Accountability trumps discipline and discipline trumps motivation...

"Clear the Calendar" where we look forward to the next challenge:

The next TFC Fitness Contest is the "Assault on Tax Form 1040" and it is going to be hell. The "TFC Fitness Contests" are different than the Charity Challenges, because they are typically shorter and just a way to give back to my community for FREE. E.g. you can win stuff, even without breaking a sweat.

Two ways to win:

1) Be the closest guess to my completion time and you win a free TFC Training plan (bronze, silver, gold) ($35 value)

2) BEAT my completion time and you win a free TFC Charity Challenge credit ($50 value)

This challenge, in honor of "Tax Day" in the U.S. is going to be

*10 rounds of 40 calories on an Assault Bike, 1 minute between rounds*

The time to tune in to Instagram LIVE is going to be 4 pm PST! Drop in, guess my time and watch some of the carnage. It will be great ;)

The next TFC Charity Challenge is my "Murph Memory Memorial" event. I am currently running a 15% DISCOUNT for the first 15 participants who sign up!

I will be doing the challenge on May 26th, at 10 am at Wright Park in Tacoma, WA. But the event is officially open from May 19th to June 2nd for anyone NOT in WA that wants to complete it on their own schedule!

The coupon code is MURPHFIRST15 on my charity challenge sales page, or click the link below :)

https://triumfitchallenge.thrivecart.com/triumfit-charity-challenge-single/?coupon=MURPHFIRST15

The TriumFit Twist this year (because the Murph challenge existed before I began my company) is that you are encouraged to memorize a famous speech (military being the most appropriate) to recite at the end of the final run portion.

The speech should be ~100 words in length. Failure to recite it correctly will result in a +25 (silver division) or a +50 (gold division) burpee punishment added to your overall Murph time!

I am choosing to memorize an excerpt from the famous speech "We Will Shall Fight On The Beaches" from Winston Churchill:

"Even though large tracts of Europe and many old and famous States have fallen or may fall into the grip of the Gestapo and all the odious apparatus of Nazi rule, we shall not flag or fail. We shall go on to the end. We shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and oceans, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air, we shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be. We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender."

The thing:

1 mile run >> 100 pullups >> 200 pushups >> 300 air squats >> 1 mile run (with 20 lb vest)* GOLD DIVISION.

SILVER DIVISION is half the reps and no weight vest, pullups can be assisted!

Here is a poetic description of the event:

p.s. If you paid for a TFC event, make sure you're on the official entry list for the charity challenge below. There is a form emailed to you in your receipt!

p.p.s. I love you. Let's set up a time to walk and talk. Like on the phone. Using our phones...as phones. Wut.

The Training Plans below are just for your general fitness improvement.

You don’t have to record yourself doing them, sign up on any form, or do anything specific related to the actual TFC Charity Challenges above!
