LEARNINGS FROM THE LAST QUARTER:
In order to move further forward, you will have to leave something behind. I had to drop many of my F3 workouts towards the end of the quarter to make sure I completed all my Hyrox program. I love F3 workouts with the guys, so that was rough, especially in the winter when I need that human connection to keep my mental state tip top. But the body also needs recovery. It helped knowing it was only for a short time, to put my all into the race.
You absolutely can jump into the deep end. That is my usual strategy! Full Ironman as my first triathalon, Hyrox Pro as my first competition, an untrained Marathon as my first marathon (ok, don't do that). Often people think it's harder that way, and they are probably right, but it creates just enough fear of failure to motivate my ass to train everyday, so it works for me.
Consistency is not complex, it's a choice. Washington winters are cold/dark and generally un-fun. But you still have a choice to make each day with how you want to respond to the circumstances. If you have a big enough "why," you can get through any "how." Document your journey publicly, it keeps you accountable on days you would otherwise miss.
β
So that's what I learned, but how did I DO??
My goal was to complete a Men's Pro Hyrox Competition in under 70 minutes off ~9 weeks of training. I competed in the first ever Vancouver, Canada event on December 20th, 2025.
The stakes for me were: if I succeeded I would donate $250 to GiveDirectly.org
If I failed I would buy a pack of cigarettes and smoke one on camera...
p.s. Have you own goal you want accountability for? Want to stop chasing fitness alone and have a team? I'm taking entries to the Q2 (April-June) cohort below. Let's lock it in.
December was a tribute to the lost sailors at sea in the attacks on Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941. It was a "fitness contest," which allows for people to compete for spots in the "Champions League" and receive free coaching with me.
It is the only SWIM challenge on the calendar. It was pretty fun, but it hit different because it has been a while since I was in a pool.
The challenge: swim 1,941 yards, for the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941. It took me about 50 minutes to complete this year.

Next month (February):
β
February is another "Fitness Contest" month. Get your rowers out because this one is a doozy. 22,000 meters on a Row Erg in honor of "Mission 22," which is trying to combat Veteran Suicide! Think this took me around 90 minutes last year. This year I am going to sit on a pillow for extra cushion, hehe.
WIN free coaching for April Champion League cohort (Q2) if you place 1st among men or 1st for women!
Pay $50 for any event to be registered as a "TriumFit Challenger" (as always, 50% of the profits are donated to charity)
Also, there is "Pay what you want" selection now, so if you don't want to be an official TriumFit Athlete, you can participate for as little as $1!
Buy all 7 challenges and get 1 challenge FREE :)

America is Broken. β Not beyond repair, but cracked where it matters most. β Weβre politically polarized, physically unfit, and angry at anyone but ourselves. β Weβve lost the muscles that made us: grit, grace, unity, humility. β So letβs rebuild it. Not with opinions. With actions. β Introducing: TriumFitβs Moonshot Challenge β βThe Fall Bear Crawl Across Americaβ β 3,000 athletes. 3,000 miles. $300,000 raised for charity. One mile at a time. β Every October the goal will be to get every day athletes to sign up on a community Google Sheet and commit to Bear Crawling 1 mile in the month and raising $100 for GiveDirectly.org or F3Nation.com β It will be a completely VIRTUAL challenge, no location limitations. β One day it would be cool to actually pass a baton or something across the United States, but not yet. β We start on all fours β bear crawling across a divided country to prove something simple: We donβt need to agree on everything to move in the same direction. β Because strength isnβt found in shouting louder. Itβs found in those who bear their weight and keep moving forward.
π§ What Training For This Looks Likeβ (local to where I am) β Every 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month.
