TriumFit Tues News #17 πŸ†

Count down to 2025-01-28T01:00:00.000Z

What's good Reader,

My company is built around challenges.

Physical challenges.

But also mental challenges.

Because you cannot easily separate the mind from the body.

In this newsletter I promised you behind the scenes access to the "Chief Challenge Officer" (me)

Noah Kagan's book "Million Dollar Weekend" (MDW) has been my book of the year so far. It stirred a deep entrepreneurial drive I haven't felt before.

What better way to document my OWN journey, than by doing his 34-step business challenge checklist. (see how meta this is?)

This will be my accountability to you, dear reader, to show you how the plane is built... in mid air.

Finger's crossed this isn't a Boeing 737, and the doors actually stay on the whole time.

But if they don't, I'm going down with the ship, as your loyal captain.

This week's MDW challenge was to "update my email signature and social media bios." I had to put the landing page that I made in the last business challenge, across all my platforms. The first image is my integration for outgoing Gmails, second is my Instagram "Link Tree," where it's one of the circles at the top you can click on to get access to, 3rd picture is putting my landing page on my Youtube account (sub if you aren't yet!), and finally on the Facebook TFC group page, where it is a featured post.

Noah (the author of the MDW book) also suggests sending the landing page to HIM on Twitter, so I did that for the fun of it, with a little pitch at the end!

"Tyler's Transparent $$$ Talks:"

So how much money did TriumFit make in 2024? How much did I donate? Yall know I'm committed to radical transparency up in here, so here's the breakdown...

That $690 ultimately became $450, because I refunded my uncle Gary and Jordan Spradlin who initially bought the 2025 MONTHLY challenges, which I disbanded in favor of pursuing a fitness competition/wellness initiative for businesses. Until I have enough of a following, the monthly challenges don't make sense, so I am just doing the 7 holiday charity challenges for individuals.

But that $450 is actually not all mine either. I'm committed to donating 50% of my profits to the charities on my website (I actually donated way more, at $443.40 to the challenge charities, and then an additional $2,000 to GiveDirectly at the end of the year).

But then there's taxes of course.

Let's say conservatively 25% for taxes off the top (not even other expenses) of that $450 then turns it into $337.5 left in "profit" (0.25 x 450)

Then after my donation requirement, it becomes $337.5 x 0.50 = $168.75 total left over for my bank account

A lot of work for not a lot, lol.

But then there's Expenses = ThriveCart for checkouts, GoDaddy website build, Logo design, AppSumo software, etc = ~$1,300

So I am actually in the negative for ~$1,100+ for 2024.

This is the "Charitable Impact" excel sheet if you want to keep up to date with it (this is also on TFC Website)

Am I mad? Nah, I can't continue if I lose money forever, but it won't always be that way. Heck look at some of the largest companies today, such as Dropbox and Tesla. They both waited over a DECADE before turning their first profit. Tesla spent 17 years unprofitable, largely due to burning through tremendous volumes of money in order to grow. Am I the next Tesla? Yes. Absolutely yes...I am the electric car of fitness challenges, duh. That should actually be my 2025 slogan. ;)

I only got the idea for TriumFit ~May 2024. At the beginning of this year I was led on a journey of curiosity to better understand the holidays we have in America. Stuff I have overlooked since I was in grade school: What organization did MLK roll with? What about Cesar Chavez? What is the backstory of the "Murph" workout? The history of Juneteenth? What is the difference between Memorial and Veteran's day? (low key-high key, I work for the Air National Guard, and just now know the answer to that last one, that's on me fam...)

I learned a hell of a lot. About the sacrifices. About the struggles. About the paths to holiday-hood these dates have come to stand for. And the idea of a physical challenge, a financial donation, and a historical post began. But maybe I wasn't alone, what if I could turn my pain into something productive? A movement of others pushing their limits to honor the days of "rest," we now take for granted in America. That became the branch of TriumFit based on the 7 charity challenges. And something I plan to do every year from now on.

So entrepreneurship is not for the faint of heart, there is no "get rich quick" scheme I'm after, (although 'Gym Escape' still sounds dope). I am here for the long haul. I don't expect TFC to really pop off until I am ~40 (another 7 years). But I sure hope it's quicker then that! But I am not disheartened, because I feel IN MY BONES this is what I am meant to be doing with my life. All my previous crazy goals and fitness endeavors has led to the TriumFit Challenge, as my way to magnify my ability to give back in this world.

I largely consider 2024 to be my year of "laying down the tracks." That is how I see it. I am learning the processes, getting the ground work done to build the foundation for the future. The train will come down the tracks one day. I don't know when, but I can hear it in the distance. And if I have done the work, it will be unstoppable when it gets here.

I will end by rephrasing Ernest Hemmingway's "Sun Also Rises" quote about bankruptcy, instead for how to start this TFC movement.

"...Gradually and then suddenly."

"Tyler's TriumFit Tuesday Tip" where I share some wisdom:

#13 If you're trying to get out of a bad mood, then you need to change your physiology in a powerful way. The quickest and most diabolical is a COLD shower, trust me. Other options are a walk in NATURE, or a HARD workout. Something where you jolt you body into a new state of being. It has no choice but to comply.

"Warriors of the Week" TriumFit's highlight of the TFC community:

Alex got some indoor cycling in. He is going SUB10 hours on an Ironman in 2026, he promised me. He just got a sweat test done, sounds like he is a "moderate" sweater, that checks out.

Gary went for a walk in San Luis Obispo. I'll see you on the 28th uncle!

Howard (he's my #1 fan on Strava apparently) did a 1/2 marathon! At his youthful age, that is quite a monster effort. He is probably faster than me tbh

Justin Camarata is a dude I just met at a Run Club, welcome him to the group! We did a run at Unicorn bar last time I saw him.

Kyle Mills is my cousin, and he is always cranking away at some marathon or something in Michigan. The guy won't stop for any weather!

Gideon went for an Assault treadmill run. Gideon also has the fastest mile time of anyone in the TFC community (I'm aware of), he went sub 4:50 in high school! But I am still the track captain on base somehow... :D

"The People's Poll" TriumFit's random queries to the community:

Not too many people were keen on answering last weeks poll about the competition they would like to win a gold medal in, so I went a little cheeky this week. Obviously there is only 1 correct answer, so it was an easy choice...

This weeks poll: (I'm making these less fitness related moving forward, why not, keep yall on your toes)

"TriumFit Transparency" where we talk progress and problems:

Progress:

  1. I have more of an idea for the coins. I am thinking 2 inch diameter, reeded edges, black center, gold outside. I ran out of "Dali" AI image credits, but I want the hands to be pointing downwards, like my hands from the "Cesar Chavez Farmer's Carry tribute" from this year. I personally like the image of the hands over a Mountain, because it more represents the idea of "Giving back/Hard work/Nothing to hide-Transparency" But what do you think? Should it be a mountain or something else besides my hands? My brother thinks my hands would be stupid, as always. All he does is complain, I swear. But actually I am putting him in charge of the coin design, so I will keep you updated with how that is going!

As a reminder, the first 25 people to complete the Full/Outdoor versions of the 7 charity challenges in 2025 will get a GOLD TRIUMFIT CHALLENGE COIN as a FREE bonus! Sign up here:

2. I think I have my system down for the FitStoryFri pieces, I really like my concept now (especially the Kipchoge one). I finally learned THUMBNAIL game on YouTube. I looked through random thumbnails, and it seems like 90% of them are a human face. Humans must love clicking on other humans...checks out. Now I'm stealing that tactic. I will RE-DO my first 9 or so episodes to add the poetic flare to them, so subscribe to see me take on the history of the Crossfit Games, Spartan, Ragnar Relay, Marathon, Ironman, etc...

Problems:

  1. Instagram took down my original "Selma to Montgomery" promo video due to the MLK "Mountaintop" speech being in Copyright violation, but I will post it properly in this email. Zuckerberg can't hold me down...nice try though, nerd.
  2.

"Clear the Calendar" where we look forward to the next challenge:

https://www.facebook.com/events/1094272222222236/

Check out the "Selma to Montgomery" FB Event page. This is the first challenge of 2025 and your first shot at a GOLD CHALLENGE COIN, which will be given to your FOR FREE upon completion of the challenge (Full version).

Martin Luther King Jr. was a total G, let's remember his legacy by "marching" past our own physical limits. 54 miles sounds brutal, it is, but we all have to start somewhere. Start with the 54 mile BIKE variation in 5.4 hours this year, and then move to the gold division next year!

MLK really summed it up best with the line:

"If you can't fly, then run. If you can't run, then walk. If you can't walk, then crawl, but whatever you do, you have to keep moving." - Martin Luther King Jr.

Even if you don't finish the exact miles, it's about more than just the miles, you can still find your personal limit, and that's what TFC is all about.
