What's good Reader,

My company is built around challenges.

Physical challenges.

But also mental challenges.

Because you cannot easily separate the mind from the body.

In this newsletter I promised you behind the scenes access to the "Chief Challenge Officer" (me)

Noah Kagan's book "Million Dollar Weekend" (MDW) has been my book of the year so far. It stirred a deep entrepreneurial drive I haven't felt before.

What better way to document my OWN journey, than by doing his 34-step business challenge checklist. (see how meta this is?)

This will be my accountability to you, dear reader, to show you how the plane is built... in mid air.

Finger's crossed this isn't a Boeing 737, and the doors actually stay on the whole time.

But if they don't, I'm going down with the ship, as your loyal captain.

This week MDW challenge is to set up my "dream ten list for pre-selling" the idea of the Gym Escape Room.

I have made a checklist here:

I am finishing the pitch deck and potentially trademarking the name at least first. My big fear is walking into a gym and then giving my presentation and then they say "no" only to completely rip the idea off and run with it and I have no recourse.

If you had a tip to get around that, I am all for it.

Can I get the gym owner to sign an NDA? I haven't even validated the concept yet, so that seems too extra. Not sure what I can do though.

"Tyler's TriumFit Tuesday Tip:"

Don't use the word "literally," metaphorically.

Seriously just stop doing that. It's exactly the opposite guys.

"Warriors of the Week" TriumFit's highlight of the TFC community:

Let's all give some big shoutouts to ALEX REINFELDT, the homie I met at San Diego State in grad school. Man just crushed his 2nd full Ironman with a time of 10 hours 35 mins. He is attempting a sub 10 in October and eventually to lock in a Kona HAWAII IM world championship spot one day.

In other news, I failed spectacularly on my Spartan Ultra distance obstacle course race in Kelowna, BC this weekend.

Made it ~30 kilometers before absolutely tapping out.

Horrendous race conditions (39 degrees and raining to start from 6 am on, we hit the top of the mountain and it SNOWED on us, they even told us not to do the swim under the wall because people prolly die)

The ENTIRE group got lost 7 km into the race due to poor trail markers and under staffed volunteers with no nutrition on course.

Obstacles were a wet clusterf*ck resulting in it being a miserable hike, more than a true obstacle course event.

I realized I can do any 2 of these 3 things: wet-cold-miserable. I cannot do all 3 (for an indefinite amount of time).

Cold and miserable? I GOT that (54 mile run/walk ultra in 22 deg weather in WA for my Martin Luther King jr. Tribute)

Wet and miserable? (88 deg and ALL the humidity on my Cozumel Ironman)

Wet and Cold and Miserable? (My Canada Spartan Ultra...I'm out dawg. I can suffer better than most, but I'm out for real on that)

"TriumFit Transparency" where we talk projects and problems:

Projects:

  1. Finding a way to test run TFC in a military specific context with special ops or retired military members. Dustin Chadwick called me up about the idea. If there were ever a motivated population in fitness and status (via a leaderboard) it would be ex-military. So me and Dustin might try to find a collab there.

Problems:

  1. How to pitch my Gym Escape Room idea to gym owners and NOT HAVING THEM STEAL my idea 5.79 minutes later upon my walking out the door

"Clear the Calendar" where we look forward to the next challenge:

https://pay.triumfitchallenge.com/federal-holiday-event-2025

Sign up for the "Remember, Remember, the Stairs of September" Challenge! 50% of profits will be donated to the 911 Tower Challenge foundation

I got to interview my dad (a retired firefighter for LA) when my parents came out to the PNW last week. He agreed to do the challenge. If my nearly 73 year old dad can do the 110 story challenge, YOU CAN DO IT TOO.

Sign up at the link so save your spot. It can be completed anytime 1 week +/- September 11th.

No time requirement. Ruck optional (20-50 lbs)
