TriumFit Tues News #25πŸ†

Count down to 2025-04-07T11:00:00.000Z

What's good Reader,

Referral Reward: Refer "TriumFit TuesNews" to just 3 friends & get one of my training plans for free ($20-$35 value). Just reply to this email with subject line: "Newsletter referrals" and list the emails of your 3 amigos, and I will add them manually! (Ideally you tell them how awesome it is first, of course...)

Now you have a proper training plan and the body you want with your swagger back.

My company is built around challenges.

Physical challenges.

But also mental challenges.

Because you cannot easily separate the mind from the body.

In this newsletter I promised you behind the scenes access to the "Chief Challenge Officer" (me)

Noah Kagan's book "Million Dollar Weekend" (MDW) has been a revelation for me.

It stirred a deep entrepreneurial drive I haven't felt before.

What better way to document my OWN journey, than by doing his 34-step business challenge checklist. (see how meta this is?)

This will be my accountability to you, dear reader, to show you how the plane is built... in mid air.

Finger's crossed this isn't a Boeing 737, and the doors actually stay on the whole time.

But if they don't, I'm going down with the ship, as your loyal captain.

This week MDW challenge is to reflect on how the previous newsletter marketing experiments worked, and to double down on what was pushing sales forward.

HERE IT WAS...

30-Day Marketing Experiments (EXPECTED SALES), ending first week of April...

  1. Guest feature on health related podcasts, I am setting up a "PodMatch" account now (4 sales)
  2. Instagram DM's on "hybrid athlete" channels (10 sales)
  3. Leaving a flyer at local gyms, like Fitness Quest, 24 fitness, etc (2 sales)
  4. Post about it in my newsletter, yay for you guys (3 sales, c'mon yall help a dude out)
  5. Post in my F3 group, F3 is a rugged men's workout group and Slack channel that is nationwide (6 sales)

Total expected sales: 25 in 30 days.

VS. REALITY!

30-Day Marketing Experiments (ACTUAL sales), ending first week of April...

  1. Guest feature on health related podcasts, I am setting up a "PodMatch" account now (0 sales). I am lined up for some solid shows in April though!
  2. Instagram DM's on "hybrid athlete" channels (0 sales)
  3. Leaving a flyer at local gyms, like Fitness Quest, 24 fitness, etc (0 sales)
  4. Post about it in my newsletter, yay for you guys (8 sales) *more DM's to friends, but this is the closest category I had.
  5. Post in my F3 group, F3 is a rugged men's workout group and Slack channel that is nationwide (2 sales)

Total actual sales: 10 in 30 days.

What have I learned?

My "warm" audience is definitely the most interested in TFC, at the moment. That is understandable. Sound like the obvious "double down" strategy for the time being.

"The strategy to kill" seems to be cold DM's. I think cold DM's might still work for building community, creating minor network effects, but in terms of direct SALES? It's a very hard tactic.

I think cold complimenting people's accounts may be likely to lead to reciprocal follows, but I haven't exactly tested that out yet. That might be worth a shot though.

The other question I LOVED as part of the business challenge this week, was to think: "how would you double your business revenue, if you COULD NOT get any new customers?"

This is to get you thinking about how you can OVER-DELIVER value to your current customers. Retention and referrals are a huge factor for early stage businesses. My over-deliver strategies have been:

-Creating a "King" and "Queen" of the Course award. That is a fun, unexpected reward I did this time. It is not necessarily the fastest completion time, but who was trying hard and supporting their fellow TriumFit Challengers in the spirit of the event.

Clearly Danny liked his laurel wreath, lol. At least it's more unique than a race medal, that we all have 10,000 of lying somewhere in our closets, right?

-"Certificates of Triumph" are pretty fire. People want to brag about the hard stuff they did! Examples are shown below

It wasn't an easy day, but nothing worth anything in life should be. With Herchel giving me spiritual and relationship advice along the way, I was able to block out the pain!

Danny Stokes won "King of the Course" and his wife, Chavela won "Queen of the Course," why? Because Danny did the GOLD division to the letter, and he finished wayyy ahead of me.

Chavela also had a good strategy of using asymmetrical weights, and she cheered me on through the final lap and filmed it. So they were the featured champs of the day!

Time to go through all the footage over the next 2 weeks and piece it together.

β€œTriumFit Transparency” where we talk progress and problems:

Tyler’s progress towards his 2025 TriumFit growth goals:

A) 13 of 100 challenge sign ups (up 2 since last week)

B) 78 of 1,000 newsletter subscribers (up 4 since last week)

Tyler's problems to overcome:

Stephanie, my lovely agent who is also trying to get me on "Love Island," took some notes from the group at dinner after the Bringer of the Bells on Sunday! I will make my way down this list, but THIS IS THE FEEDBACK I NEED.

My waivers need some work... But that is cool because they will be ready by the time absolute strangers (who are more likely to sue me) participate. I am pretty safe for now because it's just friends signing up for TFC events lol.

If you know of any good solutions to the problems above LET ME KNOW? Is there a free Docusign company you are aware of? Let me know!

I also LOVE the suggestions for "training camps" that are FREE in the community that prepare participants for the upcoming challenge, encourage developing friendships, and bring more awareness to TriumFit.

My plan is to do bimonthly "training camps" where from the months of January through June, we all meet at "Wright Park" in Tacoma to prep for the upcoming challenges and July through December we all meet at Stadium High Stairs to prep for the back half (stair intensive) challenges.

Shooting for the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the Month (10 am - 11 am+)

What do you think? Would you turn up?

In this episode we have...

1) Vince - the mans out here running half marathons like a boss. I don't know who "Nate" is, that he is referring to, but sound like a dude you want on your team in life. Also, side quest congrats on completing the "March ten days active challenge!" Good work my guy.

2) Caitlyn - Went for a lil walk out by Point Defiance, one of my favorite spots in all of Tacoma. Plus look at that good boy, Shiba? Must be. I wish I could look that daper perched on top of rocks.

3) Cameron - Looks like I have a new spot I need to check out: Boulder River. I'm a fool for a good waterfall. I never chase em though. If you know you know... Respect Cameron, F3 is a great organization too!

4) Kerin - This guy is running majestically with the Cherry Blossoms out here. This is why I love WA. So much beauty out here. Also, side quest award to Kerin for completing the "SCHEELS Run with Us 45k Challenge!

5) Ben - Not gonna lie. I saw that dog snout and was in. Ben is holding it down in Idaho, I used to live in Boise a WHILE back, pursuing my ice hockey dreams as a young lad. Keep at it Ben!

6) Brian - The man definitely put some TIME ON FEET with a 20 miler. Sounds like a Marathon is in coming as he is heading into "peak week" soon. Hope that foot heals up man, but keep pushing onward!

So that wraps up this week. If you see someone running down the street give them a HI-FIVE and tell them Ty from TriumFit on the internet says "good job."

"The People's Poll" TriumFit's random queries to the community:

This segment was inspired by a previous project of mine: "Tyler Talks to Strangers," where I would interview random people on the street. Fun times. But my curiosity is endless, so now I get to query YOU!

DAAMN. I personally HATE bathroom air dryers, I was hoping that would win. But no, the people have spoken. And the people have dementia apparently. It's not that hard to remember passwords, just make them all "Password123!" like me ;)

I've never been hacked, not even by a Russian spy!

"Tyler's TriumFit Tuesday Tip" where I share some wisdom:

#20

Read MORE than one book at a time. I always have ~3 books in constant rotation. The habit of reading before bed every night will expand your brains knowledge base slowly, yet significantly over time.

"Clear the Calendar" where we look forward to the next challenge:
